Cité du Design
The Public Institution of Cultural Co-operation (EPCC) Cité du design – Higher School of Art and Design, brought together, in January 2010, the Cité du design and the Saint-Etienne Higher School of Art and Design, on the same site, the former Arms Manufacture of Saint-Etienne.
The Cité du design raises public awareness of design
One of the primary missions of the Cité du design is to raise awareness of design among all types of public: professional and public authority actors, universities, the general public, etc.
The Cité du design has created various communication tools to address these different publics: guided visits for professionals and individuals, general public and professional awareness campaigns, workshops for young people, publications, seminars and conferences.
Guided tours in English, Italian and sign language are available upon request.
Tuesday to Sunday from 11AM to 6PM.
Musée d'Art moderne
The museum offers a program of temporary exhibitions which present world-class artists and younger artists at the same time.
At least four rooms of exhibitions are dedicated to the presentation of works through major themes like the body, substance or article.
The visitor approaches the modern art based on the understanding of modern and contemporary works from the collection.
Open from 10AM to 6PM – Monday to Sunday (except Tuesday). Without reservation.
Musée des verts
Built in 1931, the Geoffroy Guichard Stadium is a temple of football in France. It is named after the founder of the Casino group, which headquarter is in Saint-Etienne. Geoffroy Guichard was also owner of the field where the stadium is built.
Called “the Cauldron“, during soccer match, smoke appears from the stadium, that’s why it has this nickname and makes it an exceptional place.
It includes the “Musée des Verts“(the Museum of the soccer team), a real soccer temple and the history of its legendary Club – ASSE.

During your visit, the guide will show you the ‘Grangent’ water mark in its main aspects. You will understand why this area was chosen for the construction of the hydroelectric dam and how the reservoir was created. The visits allows the discovery of all the history, built heritage, landscape and environment of the “Gorges de la Loire”.

Château de Bouthéon
Château de Bouthéon (The Castle of Bouthéon) is one of the mean monuments of the Loire department.
On the Monument side, the castle reflects the architectural evolution of eight centuries of history. The building has gone from medieval fortress to a residential castle, Renaissance residence, bourgeois style apartments and finally a cultural and tourist location.
